Renewing Wedding Vows

I am preparing to renew my wedding vows, and I was wondering if anyone has an opinion, is it okay if my Dad walks me down the aisle or not, I 've been told he only does that if he is giving me away for the marriage not if I'm already married and renewing, but I feel lucky to have my Dad still, and i was wondering what everyone was thinking if it is okay or not for him to do this? Thank You, Michele

Re: Renewing Wedding Vows
I was debating the same thing and we decided that I would walk half way down the aisle myself and my husband would come and meet me and we walk up together.

If he did not get to do it the first time around and you want him to do it now then go for it. I may even change my mind and have my dad walk with me as we did not have a wedding the first time around.

Best wishes and contact me if you need any other wedding items, veils, guestbooks etc. Have a blessed day

Re: Renewing Wedding Vows
My parents are renewing their vows in April. They have been wed 25 years and never got a nice wedding the first time. However neither of my Grandfathers are alive so my mom has chosen for my Grandmother to walk her to my dad.

This is your specail day and everywhere that I have read says that traditionally husband and wives walk together, but there are NO real rules. You do whatever you want to make the day specail for you!

Re: Renewing Wedding Vows
Hi Michele, I find your situation simular to mine; I didnt know my biological father until I met him for the very first time when I was 18 years old, a few months before i was to be married. He was there at our marriage ceremony (no wedding) with his wife and they were our witnesses. Now 24 years later my hubby and I are going to renew our wedding vows but this time we are having a wedding to celebrate our 25th, I want my biological father to walk me down the aile. Im very glad your dad is still here for you; I feel that if thats what will make you and your dad Happy; I say DO IT. All it will do is give you wonderful memories to cherish for a long time to come. Good luck and God Bless. Terri

Re: Renewing Wedding Vows
If you want your dad to walk you down the aisle; I say go for it since he missed out on the first time. Believe me when my husband asks me to marry him again I definitely want my dad to walk me down the isle. Even though you are already married it is something that a dad just can not miss out on the second time around.
