First, you need to ask yourself why you want to be a model. Is it because you think that is what society expects of you? Is it a way to be considered cool and pretty? You are young and you think that everyone will like you if you are a model. When in fact, you will probably be disliked by girls who are jealous of you. Take a look at Christina Aguilera. Her song Genie in a bottle came out right before she went to her high school prom. They played it at her prom and Christina swelled with pride because she thought the people were going to dance to it, and she would have a good time. Everyone walked off the dance floor and ruined her moment because they were jealous.
Just remember, Clothes don't make the person, your personality does.
You live in New Jersey - Is that not close to NYC - the Mecca of modeling. Don't give me that "I live too far" - If you have what it takes to be famous, your parents would have already moved, but since you don't - then stay in New Jersey and go to college. It will take you further than modeling will.
Wow...way to kill a girl's thunder. Modeling is hard work, but it's good work. I have friends who have just gotten into modeling. Don't give up because of these two people preconceived notions of modeling. If you think you will enjoy it, go for it...just remember that it is a career, and not an easy one at that. Good luck!
