We just had the reception last week and now it is thank you card time. I just wanted to know if I needed to write thank you cards for everybody who attended or just for the people who gave gifts?

If you are really ambitious you can send one to all, but it is not required. Usually the favors cover the thank you for coming part. And the thank you cards are the personally written thank you for those who personally gave you a gift.
