I don't think the dollar dance is tacky, my family does it at every wedding and I plan to do it at mine, the only thing that no one else has mentioned is that even every wedding I have been to in my area, including family ones, when people give a dollar to dance, they get a shot (a lot of people do jello shots) so it is like you are getting something in return as well as getting a chance to spend one-on-one time with the bride/groom!!
I had a girl that had me hand Paint Ceramic piggy banks that she placed on the tables with a little sign that said "please feed the animals". They turned out really cute and were very original and did the trick !! There are a couple of examples on my web page at the bottom of the toasting flutes page.
Wow, I think the reason that Les doesn't think this tradition is not tacky is because Les doesn't know what classy is......"sticks up butts", you sound like a real winner! Having said that, people are entitled to speak their minds, if they have one that is.
Stop bashing people and find another web site to go to. You people who are always calling someone tacky need to really take a look at yourselfs. Have you ever heard the saying if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all. The Brides who come to this site are looking for help with there wedding and to share positive ideas and other experiences. If your not willing to do any of that that then find a bashers site!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a good one.
I like the idea of the Piggy banks for my Girl Scouts benefits and even for my Cheerleaders to have money donated to them. I don't think I would want that for a wedding. I can't even imagine why at a wedding there would be a bank on the table. I will have to contact you Connie!!!
I've been to several weddings where they do the Dollar Dance. It's one or two songs where people wait in line to dance for a couple of seconds with the bride and groom and they have to give them from $1 up. I've seen people give $50. My friends got $2,000 during the Dollar Dance
I think the dollar has to do with not so much getting money!
It's an option the guests get to do to help the couple as bride and groom start their life together.Thats why its optional! Some people need to look at their traditions before they become jugdemental to other peoples traditions.
