Wedding Invitations

My future daughter-in-law has ordered her wedding invitations without the names of the grooms parents on the invitation.

Re: Wedding Invitations
We did not have any parent names on our invitations. My parents, my husbands Mom and we all shared in the cost of the wedding. My husbands parents had been divorced for years and he was brought up by a step dad that his Mom was also divorced from so it was just to complicated. My Mom sugggested that we not put their names on them, so we wouldn't have to deal with the other problems on his side. Also, I had not lived at home since I graduated from collage, and my husband and I lived together for several months before the wedding so it just seemed right. We started our invitations for our fall wedding with....
As autumn leaves turn their brillant hue two hearts will join and say I do
Followed by my name then my husbands name and then...will be joined in a holy union on.....date...... At church name and address.......then at the bottom we printed
With our parents we ask you to share in this celebration of life and love.
I think now a days their are so many different situations there are no longer hard and fast rules.
You don't say if you are sharing in the cost of the Wedding or not. If you are truly offended ask her about it don't let this be a point of contention that surely will just grow, you don't want to start out like that. Good Luck

Re: Wedding Invitations
It is no longer the tradition to include parent's names on the invites. It is however still traditional to include the names of whomever is hosting the event. If her family is taking care of most of the expenses, or having the wedding in their home or club their names would be included.
For my wedding, his family was the one paying for the majority of the wedding, but it was held at my family's home. To avaid any hurt feelings we worded the invite like this: Together with their families,..................... And ........... Invite you and so on.
I am sorry that you feel slighted and I truly hope you can discuss this with them without any problems or holding a grudge. One question though, what is your relationship with the bride to be? Are you close or were you against their union?
