Cash For Gifts

To each their own, BUT! It is simply being straight and to the point to request a monetary gift on your wedding.

Unfortunately, we are not all Italians who understand that you need a little green if you know what I mean.

Newlyweds are the most in need for cash than those who have been together longer. The wedding costs a lot of money--simply put, but this is not the point. There are plans for kids, a home and everything that life requires--these things require money.

"Cash or gift certificates only, please" is a good enough statement of request.

Any guest who feels offended by this request is obviously, 1. Silly and from the old school (to not know that everyone needs money)
2. Was planning on buying some cheap unnecessary gift anyway.

3. Wasn't going to give anything at all and jealous that they didn't have the nerve to ask for money for their wedding gift!
Or
4. Is too old for anyone to even give a hoot what they think or say.

Let's face: A closed mouth is never fed. If you want something, open your mouth and say it or in this case-print it on the card so there is no excuse.

Re: Cash For Gifts
I must admit , I was a little thrown back by the immaturity level in here for a while.. Does it matter that Oh my Lord someone made a typo or has a different opinion than you?? This is suppose to be informational. In saying that, I have had my wedding and I personally wouldn't ask for money ONLY .. As one said before I do believe gifts should be given from the heart and if you're looking to get "the amount per head back". I believe you probably threw a party that was out of your budget and that shouldn't be put on the shoulders of your guests.. .. Now don't get me wrong , I know people marry with kids and who do combine households.... And in that case and that case only I agree with the wishing well reception. I do hope thought that you keep in mind if for some reason you get an ugly engraved ornament or plate... Be thankful..You will survive and I'm sure it was given to you because it meant something to someone else to do so....... BE THANKFUL!!!!

Re: Cash For Gifts
I did something similar to this. I put a card in my niece's invitations for her birthday party what she wanted people to bring. I didn't think that it would offend anyone. She didn't want a gift, she wanted people to bring an unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots (she wanted to complete her Girl Scouts Gold Award) and so we printed up a separate card telling the guests what she wanted and where we were going with it. It wasn't met with offense but I also think it was because it was unselfish. When you tell people what to give you it seems a little selfish. So I hope you understand although I helped my niece to do this, it was because it was for unselfish reasons.
