I was asked last minute to be a bridesmaid. It is obvious that I am a space filler to match up with the grooms 6 brothers. The wedding is my boyfriends stepbrothers wedding and I do not know them very well. Am I obligated to pay for the shower etc... Or can I just buy my bridesmaid dress and fill space? Please advise???

Personally, I think that when you accept the position as a BM, you accept all the obligations, inlcuding throwing a shower. However, I guess since you're not close to them, and you're a "space filler" you dont need to be so active. You could merely ask if there's anything they need help with. (If you dont want to be a BM though, you could always just let ur BF know...)
