I will not attend the wedding because:
She flunked out of school and moved in with him.
He has an illegitimate child with his first live in girlfriend.
He has been arrested and convicted of assult with his second live in girlfriend.
He has several other live in girlfriends since.
He has been arrested and convicted of drugs.
She is now 22 and he is 31.
He has an excuses and sees nothing wrong with what they are doing.
Are you the parent? If you are I need to say...SHAME ON YOU.
I am a parent and there is no way under the sun I would not attend my daughters wedding. You for see trouble in your daughters future and still you are intentionally throughing up a wall between you. I understand your feelings about who she has choosen. I would not want my daughter to marry someone of that moral character either. However I do want my daughter to feel that she can come to me when ever she needs something. I am her parent I am there for her.
Personally if I were in your shoes and I am glad I am not, but I would express my concerns to my daughter tell her that you will not be walking her down the isle. Because you doing that is an act of approvel of who she is marring. However you will be at her wedding as her father to show that you are there for HER no matter what. I would not pay for a dime of the wedding and would not participate in the normal wedding activities. Possibly I would just go to the ceremony.
But, there is no way I would not attend the wedding. You are going to push your daughter so far away from you and closer to this man than you can ever believe. You saying you are not going to attend the wedding is not going to stop her from marrying him. It is just going to hurt your relationship with your daughter. So think carefully before you make a decision.
