Need Native American Wedding Officiant Or Shaman! Help!
We are on a desperate search for a Native American Shaman in the Palm Springs, CA area to perform our wedding ceremony! We had someone lined up (or so we thought) but they are no longer available, and our wedding is less than one month away! (May 6th) We are hoping to find someone native to the area (Cahuilla) but at this point, any wedding officiant who can perform a ceremony in the style and spirit of the Native American culture would be fantastic! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you so much! Peace.
Hi I also am searching for ideas but found some if you type in native weddings and curlture it does bring up some and here is what I found so far plus using a little ideas too
You use cornmeal in a basket to sprinkle and share www.ehow.com/how_18840_native-american-wedding.html this was one was a book could check at the library for a copy too here is the site
Http://www.amazon.com/gp/product for native books try this
Ok here are some ideas you can use .
Catus its s a speciial catus plant and on the first site it explains . Also check your local friendship centers because the elders are your best source of help
I myself am a elder and gettiung married for the 2nd time but have had common law marriages problem they died but I due to poor health that came to them from smoking .
But its true I was married for 22 years divorsed due to abuse and once the it was finail he died leaving all the stuff to the kids which was fine except the girlfriend made $30000million on the property and he met her at a $1.49 sale i think its funny even Now the second on died of cancer in my arms we were not married with a licience but were together for 5years . .
Then the next drop dead massive heart attack and had been ill for a long time I was with him for 17 years All were happy ones
Then in 2002 I met my michel and now live in Quebec City we met on the internetat 66 I packed up and moved to Quebec . I took a chance moved from BC and boy I am very luckey he is native as well . He is President of Together International Foundation for Webmusic -Musiqueweb.org
Here is my site
Http://zeetche.wm-mw.org and all of you can have a free site and help all native artists by getting them to enroll plus any affiliates as well you earn 33% of the donations but you have to promote your site All the info is in your ccc . Right now we working to get a artist house for a life time for them. Have a look no www or htttp just put this
T-i-f.org have a look and join the team I hope to have weddings there one day too for all brothers and sisters
Ok Now back to the ideas to share
You can use dollies to wrap the fruit cake with nice simple ribbon
For the wedding plan s give each persona duty like ushers will look after the people
You can use groups like the legion womens group or the friendship center or church group to look after the food its a little cheaper then a cater plus you make a donation to theses groups
Music search with the chanmber of commerce and find independent artists once you figure out the type of music but again check with the native friendship centers too they ususal know of artists
Or you can get cd music but me its not as nice as the live band
You have to dicide on a theme it can be nature or at a pow wow or at a park . Talk it over with your brides maids and people you need to help with suggestion . Figure the low cost because its more sensible to save money now days then to blow it on a huge wedding
You can rent outfits but it depends if you were married before then you might likt to go the old fashion way a nice pastel dress . White leather outfit or its your choice but be creative .
You can even make your own invitations its easy to fold nice paper to a card . And print of the computer
You can make a nice pillow with native art work out of felt
The dollar store now days offers simple low cost items and so does walmart i just discovered . You rent everything but you know its nice to put your own thoughts with your wedding team get them all together let them be creative something you all remember forever
The idea is to share
But on the sites it does tell how to have things and is a pretty good one but if you type in native wedding ideas and custioms you should find lots or go to the library and search the older native books there will be ideas it takes time and wisdom to do it
Good luck and A Ho and all our realations with love
Elder Zeetche who is gettting married after July this year
Love you all
Oh to the person who made remarks beware of this once you make one native mad you have 3500 after you even in your sleep :)) follow the shadows in your dreams and do good each day :))
I live on a reservation/rancheria. But mostly what Im here for is my fh and I are looking for a wedding cake topper that reflects us, the best we could come up with so far is bears. Any help would be so appreciated as we are down to two months before our big day

Hi, My name is Ann Harper. I live in Ga. My fiance' and I are planning on getting married - no date yet set but looking at September. We are wanting to have a Native American Wedding but need some help. Would it be possible for you to answer some questions for me or direct me to someone that can. I've been researching the net but am finding conflicting information. Most of it is the same but I need additional details. Any help you may be able to provide will be appreciated. I can be contacted at anharper@aol.com Looking forward to hearing from you. I thank you in advance.
9-8-07 I am getting married. We are planning a home wedding. I am native american. We wish to incorporate the Wraping of the Blanket ceremony and the Basket ceremony. Please send me full details on both ceremony's. Our Pastor needs information on these ceremony"s. AHO
Howka' my name is chazla i am from the sycuan band of kumeyaay nation. I got married about a year ago in november we had a traditonal native american wedding at our annual powow, we pulled many traditonas from differnt tribes. We did use the blanket ceremony the bride and the groom are wraped in seperate blue blankets by thier families these blankets represent thier past lifes of failures, weakness and lonleness they represent two differnt paths after your vows are exchanged you shed your blue blankets then your family or maid of honor best man will wrap you in 1 new white blamket representing a pure new life and one path before you. It is a beautiful thing!! also another custom is the wedding vase the vase has two spouts one for the man and one for the woman fill the vase with blessed tea or water and drink from the vase to become one (just as inportant as the ring ceremony). The basket ceremony has many traditons but basicaly it is an exchange offering a woman would give bread / wheat and fruit to symbolize her role in nuturing her husband a man would offer meat blankets skins to symbolize his promise to give warmth &security.
Any questions??
I would be more than happy to assist u
Many blessings!
