Hi I'm 18 and my boyfriend is 18. We've been together for 2.5 years. We just graduated high school and are both on our way off to college. We have been thorugh a lot. And more is to come. We have been engaged for about a year and we are really good together. However with the both of us being in different states it's hard being away from one another. We have always planned to have this big wedding one day but with the recent relocation we have decided to move the wedding up. We decided to keep it a secret from our family and only invite our bestfriends to our city hall wedding. We still want to have our big wedding but want to wait unitl we can afford it. Should we wait???????
That advice is so true. I graduated highschool fully in love with my boyfriend. We both went to college and while I was in my Sophmore year of college, I got pregnant. He wanted to get married and I wanted to wait a few years. We will finally be getting married next year, after our daughter graduates highschool and go off to college. I love him, we lived together for 16 years (getting an apartment together after she was born). We decided that we wanted a house, I always wanted a nice wedding. I decided to get the house and raise our daughter. We love each other very much. I am glad that we didn't rush into things just because of pregnancy or just because we thought we should get married. We have friends who have paid $75,000+ for weddings and are divorced still paying off the wedding. Take your time. If your relationship can stand the distance and the time away, then after you graduate and get employment, get married. I love my little family and I grew to love them more over time. I am glad that I waited for this, it is what worked for me but I will say this as my mother said it to me, if you have to ask, then you already know the answer.
