Fighting Bridesmaids

My two closest friends had a falling out about a year ago and, while they can stand being around one another to a degree, they refuse to talk. One has tried to make up for the falling out, but the other is not receptive. I really want one as my maid of honor and the other as a bridesmaid, but I'm afraid of the difficulties this might cause. Has anyone had bridesmaids that did not get along beforehand? How did you handle this (setting up guidelines or such)? How did it turn out? If you had it to do over again, would you have both of them be bridesmaids again? I really don't want to have one of my best friends left out of my wedding party, especially since this is a celebration for my fiance and me (not for them), but the last thing I want to do is to have them fight through the whole process and make it miserable for all involved.

Re: Fighting Bridesmaids
Talk to them both together and get it worked out before the wedding. They don't have to be friends, but they do have to be cordial and helpful towards your day. You should not choose either to be the Maid of Honor. Have them both be in the wedding as Bridesmaids only and choose a more trusting person who can get along with everyone in the wedding party to be the Maid of Honor. The MOH is the person who works closest to the Bride and makes sure that everyone else knows what to do and if those 2 are not getting along, they will not want to listen to the one that is the Bride's right hand person. Don't add problems to your special day. If you have someone who is able to do that position and get along with everyone else, then have that person to be in that position.
