I'm also planning a 1940's wedding and have gotten alot of splendid ideas just surfing the web. But first I did some research on the era. It was very Hollywood and glamour. So my gown is a replica of a starlet's day gown, very liquid sleek, sophisticated, sexy with sholder pads. The veil is very short attached to to a splendid 40's hat that lays low down near an eye, at an angle. Calla lilies were the accepted wedding flower. My centerpieces are really neat (e-mail me and I'll send you a picture). Favors are miniature calla lily candles. I'm also having a crescent moon fashioned to use as a backdrop for pictures (remember seeing those starlets sitting on a half moon looking so sad). I'll be more than happy to send anyone pictures if interested.
Hi Edith, I WOULD LOVE TO SEE SOME PICS FROM YOUR WEDDING. I'm starting a1940's classic wedding car business.I would appreciate it if you sent me some pics. And I will send you some pics of my car.
Thank you,
Marcus,
I too am trying to think of ideas for an old hollywood glamourous wedding. I am having a hard time coming up with ideas because there are not a lot of pictures on the web. Or maybe I am not looking in the right places. I would love to see some pictures please. Thank you
Hi, I live in England and am planning a 40's wedding, Ive got an old theatre to hold it in. Ive been into to40's scene for a few years now but would love some more ideas to get the real wow factor for all guests. Ive got the perfect pattern for my dress, the bridesmaid are all sorted but I desperately want ideas for head dresses. My hair will be rolled 40's style so Im looking for something to go just behind the rolls at the front, Im not planning on a hat. My fiance will be decked out as a US paratrooper in officers uniform as are the best men. The room is going to be fully decked out with bunting, parachutes etc and before I enter the room will be blacked out and a full air raid will be taking place. Would love to get in contact with anyone by email for a chat and swap ideas. My email is jo.cox1@ntlworld.com. Would love to see any photos you or anyone has and would love to hear from someone who has the same interests in their big day.
The wedding will have a strong American WWII theme.
Thanks for anyones help.
I am also trying to plan a wedding. I am wanting to incoporate some old hollywood glamour into the wedding, but not go all out. I would love to see some of your pictures, or do you know of any good websites to get ideas? Thanks!
I would love to see your photos as well! I'm also looking for 30's/40's hollywood glamour ideas for my wedding. I would love to see what you did to give me more ideas of what I want. Thank you!

Hello, I know that your message is from a while ago, but i was wondering if you could send me some pictures from your wedding? I am planning a hot rod, 40's theme wedding I could take all of the ideas I could get!
Thank you!
Hello Edith! My name is Davina and I am planning a 40's themed wedding and i would love to see some pictures! Ill take all the ideas I can get!
Thank you!
I would love to see your pictures. Although I am not planning a wedding I am turning 40 this year and thought that the "Glamorous 40s" would be a great theme for my party. Any other ideas that you may have had but that were discarded because they were not wedding "ish" might also be good. Thanks in advance!
Hi, I was just thinking about my mother and dad's wedding in 1944 and that was during WWII. He was in the Navy and she worked for Boeing out in Seattle, WA. They did not have a large wedding as at that time there wasn't much money and everyone was in a hurry to marry before the troops went over seas. The photos I have are wearing suits with shoulder pads and hats with small veils. They had wingtip overlay pumps shoes. I do know that the music was all big band and jitterbug. There hair styles were all long and wavy Lauren Bacall style. I don't know if that helps, but it was fun looking at my moms photos.
