Well I think 1-2 months before the wedding date is appropriate. I don't know when is your wedding date, but if it is nest year you may want to think about regiesering early so that on Holidays, etc. Christmas, birthdays, engagement, family and friends can get you things you need off the list. You today couples are even registering for gifts for a new home party. "House Warming Party". Maybe you could get a few items early that way. When are you getting married anyway? and where? state?

I definately feel you should register and have a house warming party, and if people ask you or your family for instance what you would like or need they can tell them to go on to your registry, and for christmas they can pick gifts for you there. I have a friend in the same situation and that's what she's doing.
