There are tons of wedding sites in the SF Bay Area that can fit 500 people. It just depends on far you are willing to drive (15 minutes, 30 min., an hour)? It also depends on what type of setting you are looking for. Are you looking to have an outdoor or indoor reception? Most important of all, how much are you willing to spend? Any major hotel in San Francisco can accomodate 500 guests in their larger ballrooms. If you prefer a non-hotel setting, some of the more popular places in the Bay Area for wedding receptions are the Avalon Ballroom (San Francisco), Hayes Mansion (San Jose), Kohl Mansion (Burlingame), Willow Heights (Morgan Hill), Freedom Hall (San Jose), Villa Montalvo (Saratoga), Dunsmuir House (Oakland), & Alta Mira (Sausalito). You can also try some of the major golf membership clubs in your area. Many of them will rent areas for wedding receptions. The Decathalon Club in San Jose is a popular one. Many wineries in Napa and Sonoma are beautiful sites for a wedding but the nicer ones are very pricey. Hope this helps.
