My husband and I got married years ago in Las Vegas and now we wish to have a "normal" wedding, (with bridesmaids and groomsmen). How does a person go about doing that? and is that a good idea.

It is a great idea, you will never be sorry about it. I just did it myself this past July, and after all the stress and all the worries, I was the happiest bride. Just plan for what you really wish and your heart desireds, because it will be very important later on.
