Im getting married in jan 2004 and im doing a winter wonderland theme. Im using all white flowers in tall glass vases with crinkled up cellophane that looks like ice. Im also doing lots of white birch trees with twinkle lights and im having tables that are named with winter themes. I have lots of ideas if anyone needs any
Joy you had a neat idea for programs if you could share where you got them that would be great! Also Kay had pew decorating ideas that sounded good also. We would like any ideas for winter theme exspecially to do with snowflakes. That is my daughters theme for her Dec 4, 2004 wedding.

Hello all! I am planning on getting married Dec 11, 2004, and am planning a snowflake themed wedding. I've been struggling with ideas for the cake, so if you could email me a picture of it, I would greatly appreciate it! Another thing I have been struggling with are the favors. I have SO MANY ideas but not the money to swing it. I really wanted to have ornaments of some type for favors...and as I was wandering around the web, I found these precious snowflake ornaments (made of glass) at www.orientaltrading.com. They are small, only 1 3/4 inches tall, but only $3.65/dozen! What I am planning on doing is buying some silver and navy ribbon (those are my colors), tying it to the ornament and printing out a small card that says thank you and attaching it to the ribbon. I plan on having a Christmas tree decorated with all the ornaments on it. As the guests leave, they can take an ornament home with them to remember our special day! For 150 guests, my favors are taken care of for under $75!
Another thing I plan on doing, since it's near Christmas, is to have my two flower girls wear angel wings and a halo. Instead of sprinkling rose petals down the aisle, I will have them sprinkle fake snow! I have TONS more ideas, so if anyone needs them, email me at: set0311@mail.ecu.edu!

Sarah, just a suggestion for you as you have a year now until your wedding. You mentioned you were on a limited budget regarding the favors -- have you thought of stocking up this year after Xmas? I think a Christmas ornament is a fabulous idea for your guest and I'm sure that they will love them. You mentioned getting them for $4/dozen off the net. You could perhaps wait until the day after Xmas and get ornaments (maybe bigger and better) for less. Also, if you have other Xmas wedding items you know you will need -- get them at the after Xmas sales. You could really save yourself a lot of money if you shop hard after this year's Xmas. You probably already thought of this, but I thought I'd mention it just in case.
Also, if you are thinking of wearing a fur cape at the wedding next year (not during the wedding...but to have for 'the look') you will be able to find one of these very cheap after the winter months this year.
May I ask in what part of the country are you getting married?
Hi Kay! I got the picture and that cake is gorgeous! I really had been having a hard time finding one that didnt look too cheesy, and that one looks perfect! I definitely am waiting for Christmas to be over with so I can go crazy with the savings! An idea I came up with today while sitting in class (I'm in college) is to have tulle around the cake table with the white lights underneath it. Where in the world do I find cool touch lights? Or would regular indoor/outdoor strings of lights be ok? I don't want to burn my church down lol! Ok, so here is the next issue. I am aiming to have around 150 guests invited and will be getting married in the church I grew up going to. I've been to a few bridal shows locally (I am getting married in Durham, NC) and all the hotels etc are definitely out of my price range. My fiance and I are planning on paying for most everything on our own (My family isn't made of money and neither is his). Anyway, I didn't want to have the reception at the church, but I don't think we will be able to save the money in time to rent out a banquet hall or something of that nature. The fellowship hall at my church isn't that big--not big enough to have tables enough for 150 guests in addition to room for a dancefloor. I know people say that only about 75% of the people you invite will actually attend...but the first 75 or so are actual family members (I have a BIG family), so I'm banking on all of them being there. We all live within a 30 mile radius of one another, so travel won't be an issue...and it rarely ever snows in NC! I'm trying to invision having all of the table settings, a table for the cake and food etc...AND the Christmas tree with the ornament favors...ANDDDD all of our guests fitting in the Fellowship Hall. I just don't know how it is going to work. The other issue is what kind of food I want to serve. My mom has a good friend that owns a catering business, so we will use his company to cater. I don't just want to have finger foods with nowhere for people to sit, especially if we are going to have dancing and all that a wedding reception brings. On the other hand, I don't think we can afford a sit down dinner with all the people that hopefully will come. I'm stuck in an ongoing circle...this posting being any indication! Anyone have ideas?
Hi Sarah, first off, I am glad that you liked the cake. I too think it's gorgeous.
You should be fine with indoor/outdoor lights -- they don't get hot to the touch.
Have you considered a VFW or American Legion Hall? They are typically pretty large and inexpensive. Some are very nice and some aren't so nice -- you might just want to check into the ones in your area for other options to the church fellowship hall. Also, the Legion and VFW's typically have kitchen facilities for the caterer to use.
Most cities have 50/50 outlets, etc for inexpensive decorations. Also, Dollar Stores tend to also have good deals on wedding items. Hey, don't rule out Ebay -- you can buy anything there at a good price. I know a lot of people who have purchased their wedding dress, veil, shoes, etc on Ebay.

I thought your decoration ideas were great, I was supposed to get married August 2004, its now come forward to Jan 2004, yes I'm a little stresed, my fiance and I are going overeas after the wedding so its all a little rushed at the moment.

Banquet type hall at a apartment complex. It's $450.00
& we have it for 36 hours. Rather inexpensive because
