My father cheated on my mother and is now with the lady he did so with! When I got engaged 2 months ago he seemed cooperative and ready to do as I wanted for my wedding! However, yesterday my dad told me that he is bringing his girlfriend to the wedding no matter what! I can't have that b/c my mother will end up spending the day in the bathroom crying! That will ruin my day! What can I do? Please help! I want my father there but not if he brings her!!! HELP ME PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
Hello and congrats on your engagement. I totally agree with you on not wanting the other woman there. Your mother is to be respected and your dad should have respect for you on YOUR special day instead of throwing this woman in everyones face. If he choses to withdraw his support from you I know it will hurt but you have to stand up for what is correct.
I have a simular situation too with my mom and dad and my husband's parents, but the bottom line is this, he needs to respect you on YOUR day and understand that it is just too soon to bring this woman around. If he choses not to come it is HIS loss of not having the pleasure of seeing his daughter on her special day because of a woman that may leave him anyway. Maybe in time if they get married things will change.
