Marring Young

I am 19 years old and a freshman in college. I've been with my boyfriend, who is 21, for 9 months now and we have just started talking about marriage. We are talking about a date this summer, and I was just wondering everyone's opinion on getting married at the young age of 19.

Re: Marring Young
I am 17 and my boyfriend is 19. I know for sure he is the one for me. He has all the qualities that I want in a husband. I will be starting college in the fall and he will be in his second year when Im a freshman. I would like to get married, but he's leaning more towards waiting till he is out of college. But I love him alot and I dont know if I can wait that long. If there was a way to get married before then I would be much happier. I am a Christian and I believe I need to "wait" until I am married. But that wouldnt be the reason for my marriage. I want to get married because I have been blessed with the right one for me at such an early age and I want to spend the rest of my life with him and get married so our lives can become one. I need advice on this situation!

Re: Marring Young
FINISH SCHOOL FIRST!!!! IF IT WERE MEANT TO BE HE WILL STILL BE THERE WHEN YOU GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE. YOUR EDUCATION SHOULD BE THE MOST IMPORTANT THING RIGHT NOW. WHILE YOU'RE IN COLLEGE YOUR LOVE FOR ONE ANOTHER WILL REMAIN STRONG IF IT WAS MEANT TO BE. DON'T RUSH INTO ANYTHING!!!!!

Re: Marring Young
I made the mistake of getting married when i was 18. I thought he was the ONE. I should have waited like everyone told me too. I didnt listen. The marriage turned bad after the first few months. He cheated, partied and treated me bad. This will always be a mark on my reputation. We divorced after 3 yrs and if I had a little sister or a friend who wanted to get married young, I would tell them to wait. If its true love, he will wait for you until after college. No need to rush into anything...

Re: Marring Young
I am 21 and engaged. I have been with my fiance since I was 16. While I am considred to be a young bride, I feel confident in the decision I have made. However, I am also graduating from college in May and own my own home. Finishing school first would be my recommendation only because, to be practical minded, starting a career and setting up residence takes alot of work. There is no reason you can't be enaged young...it takes about two years to plan a wedding anyway...but i say make sure you are financially and emotionally independent before you make the marriage leap...you'll be happier and much more secure knowing that if anything happens you can take care of yourself.
