Report Abuse Received a wedding invitation that stated "monetary and gift cards only" What are the rules for this type of gift giving.

True - a guest is someone to whom you extend hospitality. The guest does not "owe" you anything (i.e. A wedding gift). Of course, its nice to receive a gift from a guest. They aren't obligated to provide it, however.
