Hello Thomas, the first question I would ask is how old the two of you are? If you are young, then a promise ring can be given at any time. A promise ring is a step below the engagement ring. It signifies to your girl that you want to marry her someday, and you are promising yourself to her that someday you will ask her to marry you. It is a good thing, as an engagement ring means the real deal.. Best of luck to you, I would take her out to dinner and then have the ring in her dessert.. Make sure though that she understands that it is a promise ring and not an engagement ring.
