Jacci, how did you begin your floral career ?
Well, way back in 1989 my mother spurred me on to design my own wedding flowers. She knew I had a flair for the arts and encouraged me to try my hand at it and, after only a mere three months... and despite a few close calls with a hot glue gun (my thumbs will never be the same), I was very happy with the results. I know what you’re thinking… I'm much faster now.
What type of training do you have ?
In 1989 I worked for a very small “mom and pop” floral shop. Actually, I was their only employee so it was very hands-on. I started floral design school in 1992. I trained for two years at W.C.T.C where I finally received a certificate of design. I was... a DESIGNER!! I then worked up the ladder cleaning thousands of roses, hundreds of dirty flower buckets and learned how to deal with crabby shoppers, indeed, I struggled on, in my quest TO BE THE GREATEST FLORAL DESIGNER OF ALL TIME. I worked in large floral shops, a floral dept. at sentry foods, smaller shops and a greenhouse. I learned the biz from top to bottom, and boy, do I have some stories to tell; working with the public sure keeps you on your toes!!!
When did you start your own business?
in 1997 I decided that I was ready to be...MY OWN BOSS!!! I ventured forth, put out the word and set up shop in my mom's basement. I know what you’re thinking, but we all have to start somewhere… so with a year's supply of light bulbs I set out. I booked a friend's wedding that first year and, thanks to very happy clients, have increased my business every year since then. Oh yeah, I've moved out of my mom's basement and haven't looked back. I am now bonded and licensed throughout the state, and I am a member of the Kenosha Chamber of Commerce. I'm certifiable!!!
What do you offer to a client, or bride-to-be?
One-on-one service from start to finish, my team can be as hands on as you need. I offer a full line of rental items, glassware, centerpieces, vases, a wedding arbor, pillars and other rental items, you can contact and get referrals from past clients, AND THEIR MOTHER'S,... We can also come to you. I will meet with you at the reception hall or church, etc. to help bring out the look and feeling you want for your event, I use fresh, silk, dried or a combo of these types of flowers. I am a home based business but have everything it takes to run a floral shop, I even have a walk in cooler to insure your flowers are the freshest they can been,...tours are always free, so are the consultations
What types of payment do you take?
ANY TYPE! As long as it's legal. Well OK - I take cash, check, Visa and Master Card, with the balance paid in full two weeks prior to the event. You can pay as you like, monthly, all at once, etc.
