How i work:

For larger parties I work as a roving artist with an A4 pad, drawing quick caricatures in ink (without the aid of an eraser!) at the rate of about 15 portraits per hour. For weddings or a dinner dances,  I prefer to start drawing at drinks reception and continue round the tables through the meal which usually takes about 3 hours.
For the smaller intimate party, i provide full colour portraits. I draw these working from an easel on A3 paper in ink and pastel. I typically draw mainly black and white outline sketches but am also able to work in full colour if the numbers are small. I need reasonable lighting to do this kind of work. It's pretty tough working by candlelight!

I'm happy to take commissions for portraits of people, houses and gardens, pets, landscapes and most subjects. I work mainly in pastel, watercolour and charcoal and can work from photographs. As most commissions are intended to be a surprise gift, working from photos is the only way to maintain the surprise.

It is hard to give a firm price for my commissions until I know what is required but a guide price would be about £400 for a small (approx A4) portrait of a single person or animal. More people or larger sizes would increase the price. Framing and delivery is extra.
