Treat yourself to one of our self drive classic vehicles (6 convertibles and 4 hardtops) for a great escape from the everyday rat race. Tour this unique part of the Heart of England with its host of scenic and historic attractions, including stately homes, the castles of Kenilworth and Warwick and the wonderful stone villages of The Cotswolds - one of the most picturesque areas of Britain.
In April 2006 we added our first non British classic to our hire fleet. As always driven by customer demand we are now pleased to offer one the most iconic American sports cars - a 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback.
We are ideally situated to rent a classic car, in Warwickshire, right in the Heart of England, minutes from Historic Warwick and Stratford upon Avon.
We are just 10 miles from that mecca for classic car enthusiasts, The Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon and only 15 miles from the recently re-furbished Coventry Transport Museum.
We are less than a mile from Junction 15 of the M40, only 30 minutes from Birmingham Airport and about 1 hours from the West of London by road or rail. Trains run from London Marylebone Station to Warwick Parkway Station throughout the day. We will collect from Warwick Parkway, Leamington Spa or Stratford-upon-Avon stations in either our Triumph Stag or Jaguar Mark 2, at no charge.
Depending on workload, we may be able to deliver our classic cars to hotels in the Leamington Spa, Warwick or Stratford areas at no cost. We may be able to deliver further afield, subject to availability, but we make a charge of 2 per mile. Long distance deliveries can work out expensive so we normally rmend that you use your money to treat yourself to a weekend away in one of the local hotels or B&Bs, rather than wasting it on delivery.
If you are looking for an unusual birthday or anniversary present or something for any other Red Letter Day, and you have already tried the hot air balloon flight, gliding lesson, flying lesson or bungee jump, (or prefer something based on solid ground) then try classic car rental for a really special present.
We provide personalised classic car hire gift vouchers as well as a number of gifts or books to apany the vouchers. Because we produce the gift vouchers individually we can make them out to say whatever our customers want. Not only do we include the recipient's name and appropriate date but you can choose the wording. So whether you want a 'Classic Jaguar Weekend', 'Classic Car Touring Holiday', or just to say 'Happy Birthday Dad',e up with your own wording and contact us. All vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date printed on them (not the date we supply the gift voucher).
If you think an envelope containing a voucher won't make much of a present, then why not give him/her a book on their favourite classic car, with the gift voucher inside as a bookmark.
The Open Road Classic Car Hire

The Open Road is run by Elaine and Tony Merrygold who have had a passion for classic cars for many years, acquiring our first E-Type in 1990.
We started participating in Classic Car Runs in 1993 when we took our E-Type on the Norwich Union RAC Classic Run which finished at Silverstone. At that time the Norwich Union was a single day run held on the Whitsun weekend. Due to its popularity the organisers started to offer 2 and 3 day runs and we graduated to these including our first two foreign starts: one that started in Dublin and returned via North Wales one from the Palace of Versailles in Paris via a ferry from Caen to Portsmouth through the New Forest in Hampshire and then up through Southern England to Silverstone.
After seeing the level of demand for classic cars, we started The Open Road in 1997 to enable people who didn't own such cars to enjoy the thrills of driving them by hiring them whenever they wish. The business has grown steadily year on year and we now have the nine cars listed on this web site on our fleet. We took a deliberate decision to concentrate on classic British cars, hence the current choice of Austin Healey, Jaguar, MG and Triumph cars for hire.
Classic Car Hire for a Wedding or School Prom If you want something different to use as a car for your wedding, or civil ceremony, of to go to the school prom, then why not hire one of our British classics.
Our fleet of classic cars are being used increasingly for weddings and civil ceremonies and proms, as they are very photogenic and unusualpared to a traditional white Rolls Royce wedding car, a modern stretched limo or even worse - a stretched Hummer.
The choice of cars is up to you. If you fancy something in white then our Triumph Stag is the car for you. It is a four seater and is therefore ideal for the bride's father to drive the bride and bridesmaids to the wedding.
The Groom and Best Man tend to want to arrive at the wedding in something more sporty and favour either our E-Type Jaguar Coupe or Roadster Triumph TR6 or Austin Healey 3000, or one of the other 2 seaters - boys and their toys!
If your colour scheme is important just pick a car based on its colour.

If you want to arrive at the school prom in style then one of our four or five seaters is ideal. Our Ford Mustang can add a touch of 'Grease' to the occasion. If you want to arrive with the top down then our Stag is ideal, or our Mark II Jaguar adds a touch of gravitas.
All our cars are provided on a standard self drive hire basis and will need to be collected from The Open Road.
As you will inevitably have a busy evening at the wedding reception, we may be able to arrange for collection from the wedding venue at the end of the day, as long as the location is fairly close and we are not too busy. Collection, if feasible, would incur an extra charge based on 2 per mile.

So if you are unsure if the bride in all her finery will in the car of your choice we are happy to offer a 'wedding fitting' service.
